US Embassy in UAE Launches ‘FIFA PASS’ to Fast-Track 2026 World Cup Visa Appointments

ABU DHABI – The U.S. Mission to the UAE has announced the launch of a specialized appointment system to accommodate the surge in travel demand for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. As reported by Gulf Today, the new FIFA Priority Appointment Scheduling System (PASS) aims to ensure that genuine football fans in the Emirates can secure their visas before the tournament begins in June.

Priority for Ticket Holders

The “FIFA PASS” initiative is specifically designed for UAE residents who have already secured official match tickets.

  • Expedited Slots: Qualifying applicants can access a dedicated pool of interview slots, bypassing the standard 14-month wait time currently affecting the Abu Dhabi embassy.
  • Verification Required: To use the system, applicants must provide their unique FIFA Ticket Confirmation Number at the time of booking the appointment.
  • No Guarantee of Approval: Consular officials emphasized that while the appointment is fast-tracked, the visa adjudication remains subject to standard U.S. immigration laws. A ticket does not guarantee a visa.

Addressing the Backlog

The move comes as wait times in the region reached critical levels in early 2026. “Our goal is to facilitate legitimate travel for this historic event while maintaining the security of our borders,” a spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy told Gulf Today.

The embassy also confirmed that additional consular staff are expected to arrive in Abu Dhabi by May 2026 to further assist with the workload, which has been stretched by a combination of high tourism demand and new security vetting protocols.

Essential Tips for UAE Applicants

  1. Apply Early: Even with “FIFA PASS,” the embassy urges fans not to wait until the last minute, as the volume of applications is expected to peak in March and April.
  2. Correct Visa Category: Most fans should apply for the B1/B2 visitor visa. There is no “special” World Cup visa category.
  3. Digital Vetting: Be prepared to provide comprehensive social media and travel history as part of the updated 2026 security requirements.

The FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted jointly by the US, Canada, and Mexico, is expected to attract over 3.5 million international visitors, making it the largest sporting event in history.
